Rebecca Fuoco Zebra

I am a media and communications strategist working to bridge the gap between science and policy. I am particularly interested in public health, the environment, and where they intersect.

I received my undergraduate education in environmental and biological sciences from Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with Distinction in Research. I transitioned into the policy and advocacy side of science when I obtained a Master of Public Health degree at UC Berkeley as an Arthur Ferreira Pinto Foundation Fellow.  While pursuing my graduate degree, I completed an intensive 18-month leadership-development fellowship at the UC Berkeley Center for Health Leadership.

Leveraging this background, I’ve helped nonprofit organizations, academic research centers, and companies develop effective communications strategies. I have particular expertise in framing and message development, media pitching, press releases, interview training, and op-eds. I have also designed three health and science communication training programs and have delivered many presentations on this topic to researchers, students, and advocates.

I am currently the Director of Science Communications at the Green Science Policy Institute. I also advise health and environmental scientists on research communication and translation.
